Personal trainer Dan Go last week posted a thread to Twitter with 20 training "cheat codes" he wished he'd known when he first started working out.

Go, 43, told Insider that he received the inspiration for the tips when speaking with a 25-year-old fitness entrepreneur on the rise. Go educates business owners through his company, High Performance Founder.


Go stated, "He made me realise how many things I do automatically that I take for granted. "In order to aid those who might benefit, I decided to gather everything I know into a thread."



To fool your mind, count backward.


The goal of Go's first suggestion is to deceive you into completing all of the reps of an activity. To assist you remember that you have a specific number of reps to complete, count backward from your target number of reps rather than counting up to it from one.

Go tweeted, "This fools your mind into finishing the reps."


Exercise physiologist Tom Holland previously told Insider that having a goal before you go to the gym and leaving feeling successful can keep you going back.



You might be able to reach your goals and experience a sense of satisfaction by planning to perform a specific number of reps and then counting backward as you complete them.


Establish a mental-muscular relationship


Go claimed to Insider that his most crucial cheat code was creating a strong mind-muscle connection.

Instead of letting your thoughts wander, he advises deliberately focusing on the particular muscles you want to engage as you physically do the motion. With each exercise you do at the gym, "just being able to deliberately engage your muscles by utilising your mind will compound in a major manner," he added.


According to research, concentrating more on your muscles while working out will promote muscular growth.

Steve Nash, a former NBA player, also suggested exercising at half-speed to strengthen the mind-muscle link. He claims that by using superior technique, this could not only increase strength and muscular growth but also assist prevent injuries.


Consider sleeping


Any exercise programme must include sleep because this is when the body regenerates and repairs damaged muscle tissue. Chris Duffin, a powerlifter, has asserted that staying up a little later to sleep more often than not benefits your growth more than getting up early to work out.

Go said in a Twitter thread that it had taken him 20 years to acquire all 20 tips, but that putting them into practise had completely changed the way he worked out.


Everything we do, he remarked, "has details. "Just performing a workout is insufficient. There are so many aspects of doing out that can greatly improve how you exercise."
